Lijnbaan Verlicht

During the dark winter months of 2022, Rotterdam’s iconic Lijnbaan was given a sparkling new look with Lijnbaan Verlicht. Mothership developed the concept for this temporary light installation, in which architecture, history, and contemporary atmosphere merged into a festive whole.

The light objects—graceful, playful, and above all, unmistakably Rotterdam—brought warmth and atmosphere to one of the city’s most famous shopping streets. What normally feels like a passageway was transformed into a place of wonder, connection, and light.

Mothership was responsible for concept development, execution, and full project management. Through close collaboration with local businesses, the municipality, and project partners, Lijnbaan Verlicht became an inviting experience for passers-by and an ode to the vibrant heart of the city.
