Anatomy of a Bombwreck

During the Wereld van de Witte de With festival in 2007, artists Jonas Staal and Jack Segbars presented the work Anatomy of a Bombwreck. Within the framework of the theme Heroes, they placed two car wrecks from a suicide attack in Baghdad on the street outside the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum. Through this confronting installation, they explored the visibility and representation of political acts of violence in public space.

The work powerfully exposed how heroism, victimhood, and violence are constructed and consumed within our society. Mothership served as producer for the project.
