Verhalentafel
Together with the healthcare organization Laurens, the Nederlands Fotomuseum collected stories from migrants. Elderly participants were invited to share their personal migration stories inspired by photographs from the museum’s collection. These stories—often accompanied by their own photos—were selected and turned into short films, displayed on screens embedded in an antique table.
Under the title “Op reis met verhalen van Rotterdammers” (“Traveling with Stories from the People of Rotterdam”), the Story Table toured various nursing homes and libraries in the city—places where people gather, yet often know little about each other’s backgrounds. When no one was seated at the table, a digital bouquet of flowers appeared on the screen.
Mothership executed the project from start to finish and oversaw the participation process. The Story Table was produced on behalf of the Nederlands Fotomuseum, with software by Rob Duyser and thanks to Laurens and Gina Kranendonk.
