Lock of Love

The artwork Lock of Love by artist collective BLISS is a red-painted ornamental fence in the shape of a heart, located along the Schie at Havenstraat 53 in Rotterdam. It was festively unveiled on Valentine’s Day 2010. Inspired by the Italian tradition, lovers attach a padlock to the fence and throw the key into the water as a symbol of their eternal love. As long as the lock remains, their love is said to last. Over the years, hundreds of locks have been added, making it one of the most romantic spots in Rotterdam. The project was curated, coordinated, and executed by Mothership, in collaboration with wedding planner Renata Rakolcai and the Delfshaven district council.
