The work consists of nine sculptures, each up to six meters high, inspired by the microscopic diatoms found in the River IJssel. These diatoms served as the starting point for an artistic concept that envisions the Windesheim campus as a vibrant ecosystem of curiosity and collaboration.

The sculptures are made of recycled PET-G plastic, 3D-printed by Colossus and supported by a steel framework constructed by Wilwy. The use of semi-transparent recycled plastic in public space is innovative and was researched prior to realization in collaboration with Hasselt University and the Windesheim Research Group for Polymer Technology. Lichtpunt developed a subtle lighting plan that ensures the work comes to life beautifully after dark.

The artwork was created in close collaboration with students and staff of Windesheim. Under the guidance of Mothership, a specially formed art committee selected Ballemans’ design. MicroKosmos reinforces the role of the campus as a place of connection and symbolizes Windesheim’s core values: learning, developing, and innovating together.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row unlock_row_content=”yes” row_height_percent=”0″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ column_width_percent=”100″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ inverted_device_order=”yes” content_parallax=”0″ uncode_shortcode_id=”343319″][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_gallery el_id=”gallery-108155″ medias=”7106,7107,7108,7109,7111,7112,7103,7105,7113″ gutter_size=”3″ media_items=”media|lightbox|original,icon,caption” screen_lg=”1000″ screen_md=”600″ screen_sm=”480″ single_overlay_opacity=”1″ […]

[54,55,58
post-7102","portfolio","type-portfolio","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","portfolio_category-sculptures-installations","portfolio_category-placemaking-areadevelopment","portfolio_category-community-art
["GET
