Your Photo

In 2009, photographer Vincent Dekkers gave a photography masterclass to young people as part of the Summer Events organized by Your World, a program within Rotterdam European Youth Capital. The young participants not only received training but were also given press passes granting them access to various city events — allowing them to immediately put their newly acquired skills into practice.

The results of their work were presented in a spectacular way: the photographs were printed in large format and displayed on the three giant air shafts at Rotterdam’s Schouwburgplein. Passersby were given a glimpse of the city through the eyes of these young photographers. The project, titled Your Photo, was a visual celebration placed right at the heart of public space.

Mothership curated the work and guided the participation process, overseeing coordination and execution. Your Photo was produced on behalf of Rotterdam Festivals, with thanks to Your World and the young photographers who captured their city in such a remarkable way.
