Yes We Care!

The project Yes We Care was realized in Rotterdam in 2013 as an artistic tribute to fifty volunteers who had made exceptional contributions to their city. What made this project special was that each volunteer was honored with a unique flag, designed by Studio Ruwedata. These flags were more than decorative — they visually told the personal story of each volunteer, making their dedication literally visible in public space.

The idea behind the project was to celebrate social engagement and to show that art can be a powerful way to express appreciation. Mothership developed the concept, handled the design and execution, and was responsible for project management. By using art as a form of recognition for social commitment, the work gained an important social function.

Together, the flags formed a colorful and meaningful presence in the city — celebrating not only the volunteers themselves, but also the spirit of community and engagement that defines Rotterdam.
