Unleash the Raspberri

DSTRUCT, 2005

During the 2005 edition of Wereld van de Witte de With, DSTRUCT presented Unleash the Raspberri — an absurdist and joyfully subversive intervention in public space. Bright pink polyester raspberries hung from chains attached to trees and lampposts, marking a route from Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen to the Witte de Withstraat.

The raspberries functioned as striking signposts: sculptures that were both playful and visually provocative. With their glossy surfaces and exaggerated colors, they formed an artificial, almost cartoonish counterpoint to the urban environment. DSTRUCT used the raspberry as a symbol of temptation, confusion, and branding — an icon that, in all its simplicity, demanded the attention of passersby. Mothership developed the concept, acted as curator, and was responsible for project management and execution.
