Twist & Shout
At the foot of the Erasmus Bridge, a skate ramp with a remarkable story arose: Twist & Shout. Designed in 2013 by Indian architect Martand Khosla, the work was the winning design of the international competition Reclaiming the Street organized by Showroom MAMA. Located next to the Erasmus Bridge on Willemsplein in Rotterdam, the object is not only a visual statement but also a fully functional, skateable sculpture. Its dynamic, industrial form is clad with recycled wood sourced from an old church floor.
Mothership acted as producer and was responsible for the complete realization of the work and oversaw the entire production process from design to installation, coordinated collaboration between partners, and ensured both the technical and artistic quality on site. In 2016, the wooden surface was renewed due to weather-related wear, with Mothership once again handling the production. The artwork was made possible with support from Showroom MAMA, Stichting DOEN, the Municipality of Rotterdam, and CBK Rotterdam.
