Reflect

The parking garage beneath Schouwburgplein in Rotterdam was in need of some extra flair — not just a fresh coat of paint, but an artistic intervention that would reflect the cultural richness above. In 2014, artist duo Ephameron (BE) and Studio Ruwedata (NL) created Reflect: a vibrant mural filled with graphic elements referencing dance, music, film, theatre, shopping, and culture.

Inspired by the cultural institutions surrounding Schouwburgplein — including de Doelen, the Rotterdamse Schouwburg, Pathé, IFFR, and Codarts — Reflect serves as a visual tribute to the vibrant cultural life unfolding directly above the garage. The combination of stencils and stickers transforms the garage’s functional environment into a surprising, immersive experience, giving visitors a taste of the city’s creative energy the moment they arrive.

The project was commissioned by the Municipality of Rotterdam (Bureau Binnenstad), and was curated and produced by Mothership.
