Mijn Icoonfoto’s

RAAF & Martijn Kleppe, 2012

Mijn Icoonfoto’s was a traveling interactive installation that invited participants to reflect on the power of iconic press photos and their own visual memory. The project was an initiative by RAAF Projecten and historian Martijn Kleppe, in collaboration with Mothership, which translated the concept into a striking visual and interactive form: a modern school desk with a built-in “serious game.”

This game presented users with a series of choices based on well-known news and press images. By responding intuitively, participants gained insight into their own visual associations and the social impact of photography. The installation debuted at Erasmus University Rotterdam and later traveled to various locations across the Netherlands, reaching a wide audience with its educational mission.

Mothership acted as producer, designer, and project manager, ensuring that the idea of visual education was expressed in an accessible and engaging way. The installation combined technology, history, and art into a powerful public tool for awareness and reflection.
