Liefdespad Ruurlo – De Lintbank

‘De Lintbank’ by Alphons ter Avest is one of the artworks along the Liefdespad in Ruurlo and was completed in 2023. This artwork is part of a unique art trail where love and nature meet through installations by various artists. Mothership acted as curator, executor, and project manager for this project, ensuring that the artwork was seamlessly integrated into the public space of Ruurlo.

‘De Lintbank’ is a striking, elongated bench that winds through the landscape like a red ribbon. The design evokes a graceful gesture — an invitation to rest, reflect, and be together in the open air. Its characteristic red color and flowing form make the object stand out, while at the same time allowing it to blend naturally into its surroundings.

The inspiration for the artwork comes from the concept of naoberschap — a deeply rooted local tradition of neighbors helping and supporting one another. It’s something taken for granted in the region, yet it is, in truth, a gift of immeasurable value — one that deserves to be wrapped with a great ribbon.

Artist Alphons ter Avest designed this playful and dynamic Lintbank as an ode to togetherness. The loveseat consists of one continuous ribbon — a ribbon that connects us.
