Je Maintiendrai

During the ‘Year of the Farm’ in 2003, Arno Coenen created the artwork Je Maintiendrai in Lisse. Against the façade of a farmhouse stood a large inflatable object in the shape of a tattoo-like heraldic lion adorned with agrarian symbols, carrying a banner reading “Je Maintiendrai” (I will stand firm). The result was a bold and defiant image that fused national pride with the spirit of rural life.

Mothership developed the concept and acted as curator for this temporary artwork.
