Het Steiger

Het Steiger, a side street off De Hoogstraat in Rotterdam, was once known as a place people preferred to avoid — a grim alley with an unsafe atmosphere. To help change that perception, Mothership developed a powerful visual concept: a series of 18 illuminated billboards created by various artists, all centered around the theme of “Safety.”

Mothership selected the artists and was responsible for both execution and project management. The impressive lineup included Luuk Bode, Zedz, Maarten van Maanen, Johan Kleinjan, Lokiss, Miss Van, Upcult (DSTRUCT collective), Sfaustina, Jasper van de Made, Eelco van den Berg, Mackplakt, Ephameron, David Gilmore Girls, Arjen de Jong, Bolt Graphics, HuMobisten, CT’ink – Evol & Pisa73, and EHGZ. Together, they gave the street a fresh identity — safer, more vibrant, and above all, more inviting.
