Global Farming
At Pronk Farm in Midden-Beemster, artist Geert Mul presented the project Global Farming during the Year of the Farm — an interactive multimedia installation connecting local agricultural culture with global developments. Inside a barn, a digital landscape appeared on a large screen, composed of agricultural imagery and portraits of local youth. A floor sensor activated the landscape as visitors entered the space, making them an integral part of the artwork.
Global Farming revealed the tension between the specific and the universal — between the familiar agricultural architecture of the region and the global issue of the disappearing farming way of life. The work highlighted how local identity is increasingly coming under pressure in an ever-globalizing world.
Mothership was responsible for curation and project management. The installation offered a visual and physical experience that invited reflection and awareness, giving innovative form to an urgent social development.
