Fascinatio

The artwork Fascinatio is a colorful, large-scale mural by artist Daan Botlek, located in the neighborhood of the same name in Capelle aan den IJssel. Botlek’s distinctive style — playful, abstract, and full of movement — gives the work an energetic character that perfectly suits the youthful spirit of the area. With its human-like figures that appear to play with space and gravity, the artwork invites curiosity and sparks the imagination.

Mothership played a central role in this project as curator, producer, and facilitator of the participation process. Local residents and stakeholders were actively involved, making the artwork not only a visual landmark but also a product of shared pride. Through this approach, Fascinatio became more than a mural — it stands as a symbol of connection and creativity within the neighborhood.
