Biesbosch Bever
On King’s Day 2015, the Netherlands was introduced to a very special member of the animal kingdom: the Biesbosch Beaver. This gigantic inflatable sculpture was specially designed for the celebration of the national holiday, commissioned by the Parkschap Nationaal Park De Biesbosch and Staatsbosbeheer. Mothership developed the concept, designed the installation, and managed its production. The project was made possible through sponsorship by KIWA Nederland.
As the icon of De Biesbosch National Park, the beaver plays a prominent role in promoting the area. This giant mascot steals the show at events and special occasions. In 2015, it appeared not only during King’s Day but also at the festive opening of the new Biesbosch MuseumEiland in Werkendam. In addition, it made special appearances at both the national and regional premieres of the nature film Holland, Natuur in de Delta.
With its friendly appearance and impressive size, the Biesbosch Beaver quickly became a crowd favorite — a playful yet effective example of how art, nature, and communication can go hand in hand.
