Antikop Rotstrot, L’Anvers contra Rotterdam
During the Wereld van de Witte de With festival in 2005, Antwerp-based artist collective Rotkop and Rotterdam collective Antistrot collaborated on a unique project: a joint magazine in which their worlds came together in a playful yet critical way. The publication emerged from a desire to move beyond the traditional exhibition format and to give shape to the collaboration between the two cities in a direct and creative manner.
The project fit seamlessly within that year’s festival theme, Antwerp, the Mirror of Rotterdam, in which artists from both cities explored and questioned each other’s work, culture, and urban context. The partnership between Rotkop and Antistrot was defined by raw energy, humor, and a shared love of graphic, anarchic imagery — a combination that resulted in a visually striking publication filled with drawings, collages, and manifestos.
