Rotterdam. Make It Happen
As the second artist in Rotterdam’s street art series Make It Happen, Daan Botlek created an impressive mural in 2017 on the side façade of 42workspace on Schiedamse Vest. With his distinctive, surreal style, he designed a towering composition of human figures in motion — climbing, falling, or stretching across the wall. The mural measures an impressive 3.30 meters wide and 26 meters high.
What makes this work unique is its interactive nature: a special platform was installed in front of the mural, allowing passersby to literally become part of the artwork. Visitors can position themselves within the composition, creating a playful, physical interaction between art and audience. On social media, this led to countless creative — and often hilarious — photos.
Commissioned by the Municipality of Rotterdam, Mothership developed the concept, oversaw execution and project management, and acted as curator of the entire project.
