Rotterdam. Make It Happen
In 2017, Bart Smeets brought a striking artwork to life on the Boompjeskade in Rotterdam as part of the urban street art project Make It Happen. The piece is an interactive mural measuring 4.88 meters wide and 3.08 meters high, created using spray paint. It invites passersby to literally become part of the artwork: the design allows visitors to position themselves within the painting, creating their own unique image for a photo.
The mural is not only a visual statement but also reinforces the city’s slogan “Make It Happen” through its active engagement with the public. Unveiled to considerable attention, it contributed to making Rotterdam’s urban landscape even more vibrant and alive.
Commissioned by the Municipality of Rotterdam, Mothership developed the concept, oversaw execution and project management, and acted as curator of the entire project.
