In 2023, Mothership collaborated with CrossArts on the project SPEEL! — a magical art labyrinth in Breda’s Havenkwartier, where art, participation, and sustainability came together. Mothership was responsible for concept development, execution, and full project management.
The area between Brack and Electron was transformed into an enchanting environment centered around BLOCKS, a colorful artwork by Krijn de Koning. Surrounding this contemporary playhouse grew a maze made of hemp, symbolizing innovation and a renewable future. Visitors were invited not only to wander and explore but also to contribute creatively — including the making of stained-glass windows in collaboration with the Stedelijk Museum Breda and artist Tom Heerschop.
With SPEEL!, Mothership, together with partners and residents, gave new momentum to the creative redevelopment of the Havenkwartier — and to the imagination of Breda itself.
