See Saw
The project See Saw by Geert Mul was presented during Art Rotterdam Week 2013 as a visual and auditory experiment in which technology and art merged seamlessly. The interactive installation used a self-learning system that responded live to the sounds of singing bowls: the frequencies and vibrations of these instruments determined which Google images were selected and projected in real time onto the façade of Pakhuismeesteren on the Wilhelminapier in Rotterdam.
The installation offered viewers a hypnotic audiovisual experience in which data, sound, and image became literally intertwined. The algorithm acted as a visual translation of the sounds, generating a continuously shifting landscape of images shaped by the nuances of the music.
Mothership was responsible for the execution and project management of this innovative work, in collaboration with Geert Mul, AV-R, Art Rotterdam Projections, and Rotterdam Festivals. The project demonstrated how new technologies and artistic expression can come together to create unique forms of public art.
