Le Tour Monument
During the 2010 Tour de France Grand Départ in Rotterdam, Mothership and artist Luuk Bode created a powerful and lasting tribute to this world-renowned cycling event: Le Tour Monument.
The artwork, shaped like a giant medal and made of steel and aluminum, embodies both speed and strength — perfectly capturing the spirit of the Tour de France. The monument proudly stands on Hillelaan, near Rijnhaven metro station in Rotterdam, right in the Feijenoord district, through which much of the race route passed.
The monument was unveiled by former cycling legend Johan van der Velde and has since served as a tangible reminder of a historic sporting moment. Mothership acted as curator, coordinator, and producer of the work, which was commissioned by the Feijenoord district council.
