Knowledge is Wisdom

For the entrance hall of secondary school De Ring van Putten, artists Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam designed an impressive wall artwork symbolizing the learning journey students undertake. The piece visually represents the path from first-year student to graduate – a journey filled with challenges, growth, and acquired knowledge. Mothership was responsible for execution and project management and served as curator for this project.

Inspired by the romantic landscapes of Caspar David Friedrich, Arno and Iris incorporated symbols characteristic of secondary education — from compasses and set squares to test tubes and pyramids. The result is a visually striking tableau that not only reflects the atmosphere of the school but also serves as an ode to the growth and development of young minds.

With this work, the artists employ their signature visual language — rich in detail, references, and symbolism — bringing art quite literally within the walls of education.
