Geluidsscherm A15
On April 25, 2019, something remarkable appeared along the A15 near Sliedrecht: a large-scale artwork by Collin van der Sluijs that transformed the sound barrier into a colorful canvas filled with nature, symbols, and local identity. What is normally just a grey wall for passing traffic suddenly became a story about Sliedrecht — a visual pause along the highway.
Collin worked for weeks on the narrow strip between the guardrail and the wall, painting with brush and color amid traffic and curious onlookers. The result: an expansive artwork nearly 200 meters long that not only quite literally puts the town on the map but also demonstrates the transformative power of art in public space.
Mothership oversaw the project from start to finish — as curator, producer, and project manager. Together with Collin and Rijkswaterstaat, we turned a pilot project into a powerful statement. After all, why should a sound barrier merely block noise when it can also tell a story?
