De Zwaluw
De Zwaluw is a striking observation tower at Windpark Streepland in Zevenbergschen Hoek. Located between the A16 highway and Lage Zwaluwe station, the tower overlooks one of the park’s three impressive wind turbines. De Zwaluw makes the power of wind energy tangible, serving as a physical symbol of the energy transition and sustainable progress.
The design is by Studio Jeroen Everaert and was architecturally developed by Sander Boer of Studio MAUC. The tower stands at the edge of a pond shaped like its own shadow. Those who climb the tower experience the wind at height and look out over a turbine that supplies energy to 5,000 households.
Mothership developed the concept and handled the participation process, production, and project management. In collaboration with Wilwy, Palte, Tankens, MAUC, and Carl Stahl, a powerful landmark was created where technology, art, and sustainability converge. De Zwaluw was commissioned by Windpark Streepland (Windunie, Greenchoice, and Meewind).
