De Weg naar Van Eyck

Mothership, 2012

To mark the Jan van Eyck exhibition at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (November 2012 – February 2013), Mothership brought the Flemish master quite literally into the streets of Rotterdam. In the project De Weg naar Van Eyck (“The Road to Van Eyck”), details from Van Eyck’s paintings were printed on asphalt stickers and placed along the sidewalks of the Museumpark and Witte de Withstraat. The result was an artistic route that playfully guided passers-by toward the museum, while inviting them to look at their surroundings with a sense of discovery and curiosity.

The concept was developed and executed by Mothership, which also oversaw the full coordination of the project. It was commissioned by the Witte de With merchants’ association, with special thanks to Joris Rockx.
