Bannière du Grand Départ

I'm Jack Design, 2010

During the team presentation of the 2010 Tour de France — broadcast live to a global audience — an impressive banner was unveiled against the Rotterdam skyline. Artist Irene Jacobs (I’m Jac Design) created a giant Tour banner that, with the help of a floating crane — a nod to Europe’s largest port city — towered high above the River Maas. This mobile crane served as the carrier of the artwork and was positioned beside the iconic Erasmus Bridge, forming a striking backdrop for the event.

Measuring 10 meters wide and 40 meters high, the banner was as tall as a ten-story building. The use of this industrial powerhouse not only emphasized Rotterdam’s port identity but also lent a monumental sense of spectacle to the start of Le Grand Départ. The concept was developed and executed by Mothership, made possible with the support of Bonn & Mees Floating Cranes and Blomsma Print & Sign.
